Admission of International Students

Our university admits international students at undergraduate and graduate levels.

International students wishing to study at associate/undergraduate level can apply for enrollment at our university with the result of the Türkiye International Student  Admission Exam (TR-YÖS) conducted by ÖSYM. Students who wish to pursue graduate studies must apply directly to the relevant institute of our university. International students wishing to enrol in out university must be high school or equivalent vocational school graduates, and their diplomas must be approved by the Ministry of National Education. Additionally, for programs where the language of instruction is Turkish, the start of studies for admitted students depends on their results in the Turkish Proficiency and Placement Exam.

Students admitted to associate/undergraduate or graduate programs taught in Turkish must have at least a B2 level certificate from Mersin University Turkish Language Teaching Application and Research Center (MEU TUAM) to begin their studies. For detailed information, you may contact MEU TUAM.

Students admitted to an undergraduate program taught in Turkish who have completed their entire high school education in a school affiliated with the Turkish Ministry of National Education are exempt from providing a Turkish proficiency certificate. Similarly, students admitted to a graduate program taught in Turkish who have graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program taught in Turkish are exempt from providing a Turkish proficiency certificate.

Who Can Apply?

Foreign nationals,

Those who were Turkish citizens by birth but later obtained permission from the Ministry of Interior to renounce Turkish citizenship and their minor children listed in the renunciation document who have a certificate confirming their rights under the Turkish Citizenship Law,

(Note: According to Article 7 of Turkish Citizenship Law No. 5901, "A child born in or outside Turkey from a Turkish citizen mother or father within the marriage union is a Turkish citizen." Therefore, candidates applying for quotas for admission from abroad are advised to review the Turkish Citizenship Law.),

Those who were foreign nationals and later acquired Turkish citizenship / dual nationals in this situation,

a) Turkish citizens who started their secondary education abroad before 01/02/2013 and completed the last three years of their high school education in a foreign country (excluding TRNC), including those who completed their education at Turkish schools opened by the Ministry of National Education abroad

b) Candidates who started their secondary education abroad after 01/02/2013 and completed their entire high school education in a foreign country (excluding TRNC), including those who completed their education at Turkish schools opened by the Ministry of National Education abroad

TRNC (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus) citizens who reside in TRNC, completed their secondary education (high school) in TRNC, and hold GCE AL exam results, as well as those who registered in colleges and high schools in other countries between 2005-2010 and obtained or will obtain GCE AL exam results may apply.

How to Apply?

International student applications to our university’s associate and undergraduate programs are submitted online. Online application access will be opened on the International Student Office’s website under the "Announcements" section during the announced dates. You must scan and upload the required documents to the online application system. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that all documents are complete and correctly uploaded. Applications with missing documents will not be evaluated. Applications from candidates who do not meet the requirements will not be evaluated.

Accepted Exams for Application

For international student applying to our university, only the TR-YÖS Exam conducted by ÖSYM is accepted.
