General Health Insurance
General Health Insurance
According to the amendment made to paragraph seven of Article 60 of Law No. 5510 by Law No. 6486, effective from May 29, 2013:
All foreign students studying in our country may have their general health insurance registered by applying in writing to the provincial social security directorate/social security centre within three (3) months from the date of their first enrolment in their schools.
Foreign students who first enrolled after May 29, 2013, and who apply within three (3) months from their initial enrolment date, by submitting a petition and a student certificate showing their first enrolment date, will have their general health insurance valid for one (1) year starting from the day following their written request.
Foreign students registered in this way are required to pay the general health insurance premium calculated based on one-third of the 30-day minimum daily earning amount specified in Article 82 of the Law.
On the other hand, the general health insurance of foreign students registered within the framework of the current Laws is terminated for the reasons specified in this Law.
If students fail to apply within the three-month period following their first enrolment date, no further general health insurance registration will be made during their studies.
Therefore, foreign students wishing to obtain general health insurance must submit a written request within three months of their first enrolment date.
